Default Also unbelievable - Arsenal are top in December

None of the pundits seemed to think it would last. To be honest, I didn't either. But now I am more optimistic than I have been in ages. Arsenal are playing well, the squad seems to have more depth, with more to come when Podolski and Oxlade-Chamberlain come back. Podolski can play up front, as can Walcott, who is now back from injury. So many of our players seem to have improved this season - Mertesacker, Sagna's playing well again, Ramsey, Wilshere and Giroud. If Wenger buys another striker in January (I hope he does; I worry he won't), then I think we have a real chance this season. I don't think Chelsea or Man City are as good as pundits make out. They seem to think Chelsea and Man City are the best teams in Europe. I'm unsure what this is based on. They also seem to describe every English player as 'fantastic' or 'brilliant', in the face of any evidence to the contrary. Bizarrely, the worst at this appears to be Alan Hansen - and he's not even English! He also seems to be the worst over-hyper of Chelsea and Man City, which is odd, as he played for Liverpool. What is his agenda?!

Everton are also playing good football and are in 5th position. Certain pundits seemed to think they had peaked and that it would only be downhill after Moyes left. In my opinion, the season so far has proved one thing - the overrated manager is David Moyes.

Gillingham are now 17th in League one and look like they have a good chance of staying up. I was surprised they sacked Martin Allen, but they appear to have improved under Peter Taylor - except in the F.A Cup that is!!!

I wish I shared your optimism for the Gills. We have been to most home games and they have really been pretty dire, scraping results if not losing games. The frustrating thing is there just doesn't seem to be any direction. Time will tell, I can only hope we attain mid table mediocrity, a position I would happily accept at this juncture of the season.

As for Arsenal, they have played amazingly well and look to be getting better and better. We were calling for Wengers head a few months ago. it just shows you, you should be careful what you wish for. It was a shock to see LFC lose yesterday and Man Utd scrape a draw.

Oh right. I've not seen the Gills play. I assumed that they were doing OK performance-wise, as some of their results have been ok!

I've never really been Wenger's biggest fan. I think he overplays the intelligence card. I also think that he doesn't admit mistakes and clings on to poor players for too long (e.g Bendtner). It doesn't therefore take much to take on the anti-Wenger bandwagon. However, when Arsenal are 4 points clear at the top of the league, it's very nice to be proved wrong! I just hope that they keep it up the whole season. It'd be worth it just to see Alan Hansen's amazed face on Match of the Day, in what is (thank god) his last season on the programme.
