Martin Jol was sacked today
It was amazingly inevitable and he was replaced by Rene Meulensteen. I find it strange how they have gone from a seemingly steady, stable, well organised lower-middle table side to the team that's performed this season. Some of their performances have been absolutely dire. Teams that are in bad form often put a lot of effort in, with their players closing down opponents, tracking back, putting in tackles. It's not just Berbatov; none of the Fulham players have been doing this! They just don't appear to be putting the effort in. Martin Jol has always seemed to be a good manager to me as well, so I just don't understand what's going on there. Also, apparently Fulham have a really good under 21 side. Yet none of them have been given a chance in an ageing first team that's performing very badly.

I agree, I kind of like Martin Jol, it seems he comes from the old school of management but you could see the writing was on the wall. As you say though, why change from someone with bags of experience to someone with no real top level management experience?? puzzling indded..

The thing I find is strange is that the decline appears to have been sudden, with no apparent reason for it. They still appear to have good players and Jol is a good manager. I just don't understand it. They're not a team I would have expected to be relegated at the start of the season.
