I don't think you need ever fear about me taking you the wrong way. We all know what a fine upstanding woman you are with impeccable morals. It's true that you do have a few antisocial habits that you openly indulge in : like the use of chloroform to temporarily incapacitate young women.

We all have bad habits that we struggle to throw off and I would never judge anybody who is making a genuine effort to become a better person. You know me well enough never to take anything I might say to either yourself or John, seriously. I just enjoy winding you both up in the hope of encouraging you to jump to each other's defence. The fact that you seldom take the bait is always a case of great sadness.
